Advisers to meet

AUBURN – The Auburn Teen Library Advisers will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Auburn Public Library teen room. All teens are welcome. Anyone who would like to participate in planning activities and ideas on how to make the library a great place for teens is invited. There will be pizza and drinks. Parent night

LISBON – The annual sophomore student/parent night will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Lisbon High School library. The program assists parents and students in learning what Lisbon High School offers in terms of teaching students about careers, how parents can help and future career activities and events students will be participating in over the next three years.

Yoga program

LEWISTON – “What Is Yoga All About?” will be the subject of a free Accenting Women’s Health program being offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Central Maine Medical Center’s Chairmen’s Rooms, located on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building.

Marcy Covey of the CMMC Community Health and Wellness Program will introduce a gentle form of yoga that can help practitioners “relax, transform and heal.”

Those attending are urged to wear comfortable clothing as parts of the program will be interactive.

Covey has worked in the area of mind/body/spirit wellness for 25 years. She is certified in Thai Yoga Bodywork.

Those interested in attending the program should register in advance by calling 795-2106. They may also register online by going to www.cmmc.org/calendar.html and clicking on women’s health. Class size is limited. Interpreter services are available upon advance request.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – Members of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Ramada Inn. They will hear a presentation by Jeff Schumacher, general manager of the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

A 10-year industry professional, Schumacher has managed the Androscoggin Bank Colisee for Global Spectrum on behalf of the city of Lewiston since June 2005.

Schumacher will discuss general information about the day-to-day operations of an arena and what it takes to be successful in a small market with a lot of competition. He will also cover some of the myths associated with the business, as well as answer questions.

Anyone wishing to hear the speaker or to learn more about Rotary is welcome to attend. Weekly buffet luncheons are $8 a person. Access the club’s Web site at www.lewistonauburnrotary.org for more information.

Stomach ills

LEWISTON – Gastrointestinal disorders are one of the leading complaints reported by patients to their health care providers. On Thursday, Oct. 26, Nan Boucher, a general nurse practitioner with the Center for Senior Medicine, will examine some of the leading causes of gastrointestinal symptoms and discuss the latest ways to diagnose and treat these types of disorders.

The Entrees to Health session will held at 5:30 p.m. at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. A healthy meal will be served for $5. Payment and reservations are required by Friday, Oct. 20. Auxiliary meeting

LEWISTON – The Post 22, American Legion, Auxiliary meet meet at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the president’s home at 4 Orchard Circle. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, also there. Members will discuss dues and the Christmas party.

There will be no meeting in December because of the Christmas party. The group will resume meetings on Jan. 15, same time, same place. For more information, call Toni at 782-2575 or Clara at 782-1851.

Bridge play

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met Oct. 15 in the Masonic Building when a four-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Paul and Flo Ludwig; second, Della Starbird and Eileen Potvin, also first in Flight B; third, Linda Leotsakos and Audrey Burns, who also were second in Flight B.

There will be no game Oct. 22 due to a sectional in Brewer. The next game will be Sunday, Oct. 29. All bridge players are welcome, and a partner is guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153.
