NORWAY – Gladys Marion (Plant) Lowell, 93, of Buckfield, died Saturday morning, Oct. 14, at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.

She was born April 30, 1913, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Charles H. Plant and Laura M. (Collins) Plant Fuller.

After attending common schools at Canton Point, Jay, Shuy and Livermore Falls, she graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1931. She graduated from Farmington State Normal School in 1933.

For over 30 years, she taught at grammar schools in Jay, Fairfield Center, West Turner, Mexico and Hebron, and for 16 years at East Buckfield and Buckfield Village. After retirement, she did substitute work.

She was a member of the Buckfield Literary Club, the Buckfield Historical Society, the Townsend Club of East Hebron, the East Hebron Grange, and the Lowell Corner Cemetery Association. She was a former member and chairman of the Buckfield Extension Club.

On Aug. 3, 1945, she married Dwight E. Lowell. They were married for 46 years when he passed away on Feb. 24, 1992 in Norway.

Surviving are nephews and nieces; a sister-in-law, Marjorie (Fletcher) Plant; cousins; and caregivers, Brenda Woods, Jerry True, Nancy Gravier, Bonita Bridges, Pamela Perkins, Laurie Wiacek, Melody Cox, Anita Richard, Samantha Cox and Connie Dixon.

She was predeceased by her parents and stepfather, John Fuller; three sisters, Flora, Joyce and Vivian; and a brother, Charles A. Plant, who died Jan. 6, 1992.
