AUBURN – The Garden Club of the Woman’s Literary Union will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. The program, “Some Very Special Glass,” will be a PowerPoint presentation by Melanie Ness.

It will include slides and music showing Dale Chihuly’s 2005-2006 glass installation at Kew Gardens, London, titled “Gardens of Glass.” Chihuly, a contemporary glass artist located in Seattle, recently exhibited his artistic glass forms in and around the glass conservatories of the Kew Botanic Gardens.

Colored glass sculptures were placed in plant exhibits; Chihuly’s chandeliers were hung from ceilings; and the lake at Kew was alive with bobbing glass balls and a glass-filled Thames skiff.

Chihuly is famous for his installations, including chandeliers over canals in “Chihuly over Venice” in 1995, “Chihuly at the Victoria and Albert” and “Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem.”

Kirsten Larsson-Turley is in charge of hospitality. Refreshments will be served and guests are welcome.
