SOUTH PARIS – Irene Estella Farrar Chapman, 94, of Peru, died Friday at the Ledgeview Nursing Care Center.
She was born Nov. 28, 1911, in Rumford, a daughter of Elmer Cyrus and Ina Maude (Silver) Farrar. She received her education in local schools and was a graduate of Nasson College.
On June 17, 1935, she married Percy Alton Chapman.
She was a nutritionist and a homemaker, having worked during World War II for the Maine Extension Service. She was active in local 4-H clubs and enjoyed sewing and reading.
Her survivors include her husband, of Ledgeview Nursing Care Center; two children, Steven R. Chapman and his wife, Uldarica, of Peru, and Sharon L. Nowland and her husband, H. Thomas Nowland, of Rumford; and three grandchildren, Floyd Chapman, Sarah Nowland Keffer and John Nowland.
