AUBURN – Marie P. Caron, 84, died Monday, Oct. 16, at Seville in Auburn, with her family by her side, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was born in St. Camille, Quebec, Canada, on Feb. 14, 1922, the daughter of Leo and Lydia (Couture) Brousseau.

She left Canada in the early 40’s, and settled in Connecticut. In 1942, she married Denis Caron, and in 1947, they moved to the Litchfield/West Gardiner area and had a large poultry farm. She was active in the St. Leo’s Woman’s Guild, the Lions Club, and the Litchfield Democratic Committee.

She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her homemade butter, bread, rolls and pies that she provided for many social and fund raising events in the community. She also loved to crochet and knit, and made several “granny square” afghans for her children and grandchildren. She loved to play cards and bingo and attended all the social activities at Seville where she lived for the past several years.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert, and his wife, Carmen, of Naples, and Richard and his wife, Rosalie, of Leeds; one daughter, Linda, and her husband, Rheal Harps of Lewiston; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Rowe of Leeds; three sisters, Gertrude Huot, Rose Binette of Plainville, Conn., and Ghislaine Donna of Plantsville, Conn.; five brothers, Paul of Florida, Robert, Gerry, Camille, Clement and their spouses, all of Plainville, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Veronica, Bob, Rick, Michael, Gary and Gabriel Caron and Mark and Craig Davin; three stepgrandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews; and lots of friends, who will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her husband, Denis, who died in 1978; two brothers, Ben and Mike; and two sisters, Ann Gaumond and Jeanne Brousseau.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the whole staff at Seville for their loving and compassionate care to Marie, as well as thanks to Androscoggin Home Hospice for their assistance during this trying time, and to Dr. Brodsky and his staff.
