PORTLAND – Jacqueline G. Rawson, 62, of Lewiston, was surrounded by her family when she went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Oct. 14. She had been a patient at Maine Medical Center in Portland, fighting a courageous battle with a rare form of lymphoma.
Born in Lewiston on June 1, 1944, she was educated in Lewiston schools, and was a 1962 graduate of Lewiston High School. She attended the University of Maine Lewiston/Auburn, where she studied business.
Her many different jobs over the years included waitressing, secretarial/office work for several different shoe manufacturers, and answering service operator. She owned and operated the Blue Goose Tavern with her then-husband, the late George Rawson.
They then owned and operated Grace Pond Sporting Camps in Upper Enchanted Township. Jackie was an avid fly-fisherwoman, loved the outdoors and did what she could to preserve it. She had a special love for humming birds and loons and would spend time sitting on her cabin porch keeping a protective watch over them. She was a member of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine and also a member of the Grace Pond Camp Owners Association where she served as secretary/treasurer.
Assembling jigsaw puzzles and crafting Christmas ornaments for her family were favorite pass times of hers. She especially loved quilting and delighted in making quilts for her family and many friends on special occasions.
Survivors include her mother, Liliette “Bobbie” Cliche of Lewiston; her daughter, Kellyann Rawson of Lewiston; five sisters, Connie and husband, Fire Captain Larry Morin, of Lewiston, Viv Tucci and life partner, Wanda “Diane” Hill, of Lewiston, Claudette and husband, Charles Fournier, of Lewiston, Pauline Lyons and partner, Michael Godin, of Phillipston, Mass., and Laurieann and husband, Ron Charest, of Lewiston; 20 nieces and nephews; and two very special “adopted” doggie friends, Tye and Angel.
She was predeceased by her father, Fernand Cliche, of Lewiston.
