SOUTH PARIS – Ralph P. Ripley, 69, of South Paris, died in South Paris on Oct. 16, with his wife Bonnie, son Jeffrey and daughter Judith at his side.
He was born in Portland on July 15, 1937, the son of Ralph and Myra (Cannell) Ripley Sr., and had been educated in Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1955.
Ralph served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Forrestal for four years, from 1956 to 1960. Ralph had owned and operated, with his mother, Ripley’s Market for 13 years, worked for A.C. Lawrence for 25 years, until it closed. He later worked 16 years at Poland Springs, being the first person to retire from Poland Springs. Ralph’s family was his life, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Ripley of South Paris; one son, Jeffrey Ripley of Winslow; one daughter, Judith Pelletier of South Paris; two sisters, Carol Spizuoco and her husband, Patsy, of Cumberland, and Roberts Messenger of Industry; two grandchildren, who were the love of his life, Brandon Pelletier and Haley Pelletier of South Paris; mother-in-law, Lois Corbett of South Paris; several nieces, nephews and cousins; sister-in-law, Marge Ripley of South Paris; and his beloved dog, Jake.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Robert Ripley; brother-in-law, Guy Messenger; and father-in-law, William Corbett.
