Benefit supper

AUBURN – The New Auburn Social Club will host a benefit bean supper from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. The purpose is to purchase warm clothing for the military in Iraq. The menu will include beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, bread, American chop suey, ham, rolls and dessert. The cost is $6 for adults; $3 for children; age 5 and under, free. Those who bring a new, warm piece of clothing such as long johns, sweatshirts, scarves, socks, will have a free meal. For more information, contact Joe Walker at 782-4535.

Music ministry

AUBURN – Music will be the ministry at the First Universalist Church of Auburn on Sunday, Oct. 22. Following the successful spring music service, where several members, including Bill Frayer, performed pieces with spiritual significance, Auburn UU invites the community to experience music with reverence and prayer.

TABOR speaker

LEWISTON – The National Active Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 1130 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Ramada Inn. The guest speaker will be Rep. Deborah Hutton from the Blue Paint Project. She will discuss TABOR.

Plans for the meeting were made at the home of Vi Dumais, Attending were Sue Stetson, Mike and Flo Bohunicky, Doris Hamel and Joanne Morse.

Classes moved

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Recreation and Parks Department’s ballroom dancing has been moved to the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Mondays. Classes are taught by Barbara Charles under the direction of the American Ballroom Dance Academy. They include specialty Latin, beginner ballroom, beginner Latin and intermediate ballroom and Latin. Flu clinics

LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing will host public flu vaccination clinics from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 25 and Nov. 15.

To receive the vaccine, an individual must meet one or more of the following conditions:

Age 50 or older or between 6 months and 18 years; if pregnant, past the first trimester; of any age but with a chronic medical condition; living with or caring for someone at high risk or a caregiver or healthcare worker for persons at high risk.

The clinics will be offered at the CMMC School of Nursing, 70 Middle St. The cost will be $10 a person.

The clinics are sponsored by the CMMC School of Nursing and the Maine Immunization Program. No one will be denied vaccine provided by the Maine Immunization Program for failure to pay. For more information, call the CMMC School of Nursing at 795-2840.

Card party

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens will hold a card party from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Senior Activity Room, Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.. Cost is $3 a person. Photo contest

LEWISTON – The Toy Library, 134 College St., will hold a silly photo contest fundraiser. People can enter a silly photo of their child for $1 an entry. There is up to $50 in prizes. For more information, call 782-1112.
