CHESTERVILLE – The Chesterville Fun Evening, sponsored by the Chesterville Historical Society, began at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 14 with outdoor games, including horseshoes, won by a team of John Archer and Bud Gould; hay bale toss, John Archer; log toss, Bud Gould; and fry pan toss, Kentucky Gould. All winners received prizes.

A pie-baking contest resulted in 18 entries. Judges were Wally Antone, Patty Clements, Rosemary Poulson and Conley Gould Jr. Winners in three categories, pumpkin, apple and custard, received potholders quilted and inscribed by Priscilla Bartlett. The results were: Apple, Linda Gramlich of Chesterville; custard, Cindy Whittier of Chesterville; and pumpkin, Ruth Archer of Chesterville. The pies became dessert at the evening meal.

The town hall was decorated in a fall theme for the turkey dinner. Tables were adorned with fall tablecloths and centerpieces of pumpkins, leaves and tent cards for the entertainment of “Deal or No Deal.”

Food was served buffet-style by the Chesterville Historical Society. Members of the Franklin County Fiddles played selections during the latter part of the supper hour. To begin the evening entertainment, the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to Chairesse Keach, who chose to celebrate her birthday at the event.

The left of the hall was decorated for the “Deal or No Deal” game. The grand finale was the drawing of the penny raffle winners. Mike Gullifer took home the first prize of $150; Cindy Whittier, $50; and Tom Bell, $25.
