The Sun Journal has once again included the bogus Maine Economic Research Council ratings as an insert. Clearly, the MERI outfit paid for the insert and has a right to present information, however flawed. However your paper, to inform voters, should point out the flaws in the MERI piece.

Once again, the party of the candidates is omitted, the bills used in the rating scores on Maine’s economy are not identified, and the convoluted system for achieving ratings to benefit all Republicans and target all Democrats is not explained.

The pretense of MERI as a nonpartisan group has been exposed often, and voters need to see this publication for what it is: a Republican campaign piece praising legislators that follow a narrow business agenda and ignore the needs of working men and women in Maine.
