AUBURN – A handwritten note warning of a bomb in the Mount Auburn Avenue Kohl’s store forced an evacuation Saturday night.
Store management and Auburn Police could find no bomb, however, and the store reopened 30 minutes later.
“We do know that the note was written intentionally and left intentionally, but we don’t know why,” said Auburn Lt. Tim Cougle. Cougle said police were investigating and did have a suspect.
A Kohl’s employee found the note at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday and notified store management. Managers evacuated the store and called 911. Store managers then searched the store, but didn’t find anything suspicious.
“If they had, a bomb squad would have been called in,” Cougle said.
