MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) – Several Wal-Mart workers were sickened Saturday after handling a money bag that had some white residue on it.
The substance turned out to be an industiral cleaner, the state Department of Environmental Protection said. Workers reported upper respiratory problems after handling the bag and smelling the substance just after 11 a.m. The store was closed for several hours while DEP, police and fire crews investigated. It reopened just after 3 p.m. Three employees went home, and one planned to seek medical attention, DEP officials said.
No customers were affected.
