I read with great interest the October 2006 Maine Economic Research Institute report that was recently inserted in the Sun Journal. The MERI guide to economic performance rating of our state representatives was an eye opener.
It appears L-A has experienced solid economic growth without much help from our local state representative.
MERI scoring of voting records is based on an one to one-hundred point system. MERI says these ratings measure voting records “from the perspective of creating a healthy economy, strong businesses, and quality jobs in Maine.” As stated, any score below 35 “hurts the state economy.”
Margaret R. Rotundo, Lewiston: 22.5
Deoroah Simpson, Auburn: 20.5
Margaret M. Craven, Lewiston: 15.0
Elaine C. Makas, Lewiston: 14.0
William R. Walcott, Lewiston: 8.0 (The lowest score of anyone listed in the report.)
Tell me again what these folks are doing to help us?
