CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – Ten communities around New Hampshire had to recall absentee ballots last week because of printing errors.
Replacement ballots have already been printed and distributed in communities including Dover, Lebanon, Nashua, Gilford, Newington, Fremont and Canterbury.
On some ballots, the ovals voters mark next to a candidate’s name were missing. In Gilford, the ballots had incorrect bar codes, so electronic ballot machines couldn’t read them. Town and city clerks said voters using absentee ballots should vote on the second ones they get. Any faulty ballots that have already been sent in will be destroyed.
The secretary of state’s office says there are some errors every year in absentee ballots, which are the first to be printed, but they will be fixed in time for Election Day.
