KEENE, N.H. (AP) – Boston smashed Keene’s record for the most jack o’lanterns in one place Saturday night.
Keene set the previous record in 2003, when 28,952 carved and lit pumpkins were displayed at the annual Pumpkin Festival. The feat earned it a spot in the Guinness Book of Records.
But Saturday night, revelers brought 30,128 lit pumpkins to the Boston Common.
Still, Keene officials are happy with the record-breaking crowd that attended their festival. Organizers reported that 80,000 people packed the streets of downtown, a year after disastrous floods dampened the Halloween spirit in southwestern New Hampshire.
