RUMFORD – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday for Gertrude Mercier at St. Athanasius-St. John Catholic Church. The Rev. James Martel was the celebrant and George Gionet was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist. Special music selections were “Old Rugged Cross,” “Ave Maria” and “Jai-Re la Voir un Jour.” Readings were done by Pam Rousseau and Doris Bourret and prayer of the faithful was done by Sister Marie Mae. The eulogy was given by Pam Rousseau. Pallbearers were Scott Turner, Ryan Young, Maurice Fraser, Theresa Fraser, James Carey and Geri Anne Blier. Interment was at St. John Cemetery and committal prayers were offered by the Rev. James Martel. A reception followed in the parish hall. The services were under the care of S.G. Thibault Funeral Home.
