TURNER – Pam Doyen has been selected by SAD 52 directors as principal of Leeds Central School.

She was a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington and received a master of science in literacy from the University of Southern Maine, and a received a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from USM.

Doyen taught at three levels at Livermore Elementary School, and since 2001, has been a literacy specialist in SAD 36, including providing professional development at the elementary and middle schools. She wrote and coordinates the Read First grant.

In other business, the board attended a workshop at the Maine School Management Association on boardsmanship given by MSMA’s Deputy Executive Director Ronald T. Barker. He discussed powers and duties of school boards, relations between a board and superintendent, communications, voting responsibilities and conflicts among board members.

The board also agreed to meet with the association’s leaders at an unspecified date to receive guidance in its search for a new superintendent.

Thomas Hanson announced to the board his intention to resign as superintendent of his hometown school district at the end of this school year.
