NORWAY – Dr. Rebecca Chagrasulis, an emergency physician at Stephens Memorial Hospital, has been appointed to the state Emergency Medical Services Board as representative from Tri-County EMS. Chagrasulis has previously served on the board as physician representative.

The announcement was made by Western Maine Health President and CEO Timothy A. Churchill.

Chagrasulis has been practicing at Stephens Memorial Hospital since 1987, when she was part time; she became a full time practicing physician at the hospital in 2000. During her tenure at SMH, she has served as the medical director of PACE Paramedic Service, monitoring prehospital care of patients, and she is currently the director of the emergency department.

Chagrasulis earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her training at the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, S.C. She is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Before coming to SMH, she was the state EMS medical director. Chagrasulis is currently a member of the National Association of EMS Physicians and is on the Maine Committee for Trauma.
