The Bush administration accuses those who opposed the Military Commissions Act as being soft on terrorism. However, the act itself is an act of terrorism as great as any terrorist plot. It may not be an attack on a building, but it is an assault on the Constitution, the foundation of the American way of life.
The administration uses scare tactics to get its way, but it is President George W. Bush who Americans should be afraid of. I voted for Sen. Olympia Snowe before, but this year I will not. She talks a moderate line, but when the chips are down, she backs the Bush administration.
If voters are fed up with the direction in which Bush is leading this country, there is an alternative. Jean Hay Bright is the Democratic candidate. I have checked her out, and I will be voting for her and against the Bush administration on Nov. 7.
