A recent Democratic ad shows Chandler Woodcock walking backwards. If “backwards” is the opposite of where Gov. John Baldacci and his socialistic party have taken us, then Chandler is going the right way.

Our state finances are deplorable, with millions owed hospitals, high health insurance costs and other shortfalls. Dirigo has spent millions to insure a few. Our taxes are among the highest in the country. Maine and Louisiana are the only states with negative economic growth this year. They had a hurricane, we had Baldacci.

Baldacci may think he has an edge with the votes he bought with teacher raises, police and fire health insurance, more liberal welfare handouts and so forth, but taxpayers’ ability to pay is limited.

We know Baldacci is not up to the job, let us give Chandler a chance.
