BERLIN, N.H. – Doris M. (Miller) Ramsey, 76, of Birch Grove in Gorham passed away unexpectedly in the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Gorham on March 12, 1930, the daughter of the late Jerome and Delia (Gagnon) Miller. She attended Gorham schools and was a lifelong resident of Gorham. She was married to Raymond A. Ramsey on Feb. 20, 1946, and together they raised one son and two daughters. They had been married more than 52 years before his passing in 1998.
In her earlier years, she was employed by the A & P Market in Gorham, where she worked for many years. She later worked for the Golden Lunch Restaurant as well as for Sampson’s Supermarket. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and in the summers, would frequently visit Old Orchard Beach. They also spent a great deal of time at the family’s camp on Lake Umbagog.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved anytime spent with her family. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and word jumbles. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, and especially be her longtime companion, her cat “Mimi.”
She is survived by her son, Dennis Ramsey, and his wife, Louisette, of Gorham, N.H.; her daughters, Anne Lachance, and her husband, Joseph, of Manchester, N.H., and Karen Meserve, and her husband, Gregory, of Milan, N.H.; her brother, Harold Miller, and his wife, Beatrice, of Gorham; her sisters, Louise Lamontagne of Gorham and Evelyn Murphy of Lancaster, N.H.; her grandchildren, Joseph, Jamie, Krista and Sarah; and her great-grandchildren, Laine and Emily.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her loving husband, Raymond A. Ramsey on July 13, 1998.
