Church message

FARMINGTON – Pastor Susan Crane’s message at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church for Sunday, Oct. 29, is “On the Road with Jesus.” Worship will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church, corner of Academy and Main streets. Sunday school for all ages will begin at 9 a.m.

The community is also welcome to the church’s first community luncheon of the fall from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the church. The menu will include roast turkey, veggies, homemade apple and pumpkin pie.

Work day

JAY – The Spruce Mountain Ski Club will have a work/clean-up day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29. For more information, call 897-2880.

STARKS – Area children, ages 5 to 12, are welcome to an evening of games, stories, snacks and campfire from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Camp at the Eastward on Sawyer’s Mills Road, formerly West Mills Road. Children are invited to attend in costume.

Transition class

FARMINGTON – A new college transitions class will be offered starting Nov. 1 at the Adult and Community Education facility located behind Aardvark Outfitters. The class will help local residents to explore career interests, strengths and options, access their academic skills, get help with college admissions and financial aid forms, learn to manage their time and stress issues and effectively read textbooks and take notes.

The course is supported by the Franklin County Community College Network and is provided at no cost by Franklin County Adult Basic Education and SAD 9 Adult and Community Education. To register for the class or for more information, call 778-3460 or visit www.fcae.msad9.k12.me.us.

Tasting party

NEW VINEYARD – The New Vineyard North Snowmobile Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Smith Hall for a tasting party. It is a different date than originally chosen.

More work days will be discussed. Crews have been fixing crossings, and, after the winds of Oct. 21, there are expected to be blowdowns in the trails. Any help would be appreciated; call 652-2221 or 652-2293 for details.

Worship services

PHILLIPS – Worship services for the Phillips Shared Ministry will continue at the Congregational Church through the end of the year. Sunday services are held at 10 a.m. with Pastor Sue Kaplan leading the worship. Choir is at 7 p.m. Thursdays, and those interested may call Pat Matulaitis at 639-3786 for the location.

Kaplan is available for home communion on the first Sunday of each month. Anyone wishing a visit or home communion may call 491-5353 or 639-3786.

The food pantry schedule for November has changed. It will be closed Nov. 14 and 28 but open on Nov. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Anyone wishing a Thanksgiving food basket may call Madeline Haines at 639-3366 or Evelyn Wilbur at 639-4287.

The baskets should be picked up on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the basement of the Methodist Church.
