LEWISTON – The Lewiston Recreation and Parks Department will host its annual community Halloween party today at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.

The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the building’s gym for preschoolers through sixth-graders. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Costume judging, games and contests, along with a haunted house, will be highlights of the evening’s activities.

Sponsors for this year’s event are: Modern Woodmen of America, Tim Hortons, Maine Awards, Hannaford, Shaw’s, Dunkin Donuts, Wal-Mart, Pepsi Bottling Group, Burger King, McDonald’s and Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care.

In addition, volunteers from the following organizations will work at the event: Bates College, New Beginnings, Junior ROTC, Lewiston Senior Citizens, Empower Lewiston, French Honor Society and French Club, National Honor Society, Optimists Club, Police Athletic League, Lewiston Fire Department and Lewiston Police Department.
