I recently turned on my car radio to listen to the news and got: “We went to the cabin and we had wild sex.” It must have been a middle-of-the-day soap opera, so off went the radio.
Later, when I got to settle down after supper, I turned on the television and realized the shows were making me sick to my stomach with all the violence, blood, guts and gore.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good mystery, and detective stories are super, but the television stations have gone overboard with the violence, sex crimes and bloody scenes.
I could stand a repeat of an old variety show such as what Andy Williams, Perry Como, John Denver or Carol Burnett used to offer. I think Wayne Brady might be a good one to host a new variety show in prime time.
It seems the newspapers are also showing us stories about dead bodies, violence and sex crimes more often. I need some relief from it with human-interest stories that give me a good feeling. I’ll bet others would agree.
