On Election Day, I vote to re-elect Rep. Nancy Smith to the Maine Legislature. She has excelled at her legislative responsibilities, working on behalf of her constituents and sponsoring legislation to benefit Maine people. She responds promptly and with great compassion to her constituents struggling with the state bureaucracy. Some examples are finding a decent group home for a handicapped young adult, mediating between a restaurant owner and state regulators, and advocating for abused children with Child Protective Services.

She has been equally diligent in passing legislation to make Maine a better place to live, and has achieved the respect of her fellow legislators. Examples include getting additional state funds for local schools, protecting adolescents from sexual predators, redefining the crime of ‘unlawful sexual touching,’ and improving consumer protections to guard our privacy and financial security.

Nancy Smith has proven herself in Augusta and deserves another term.
