LEWISTON – On Friday, Oct. 27, following a long illness, Alice R. Lauze, 91, was called to be with our Lord. She died peacefully with her family by her side at d’Youville Pavilion. She was formerly a resident of 76 Scribner Blvd., Lewiston.
She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 27, 1915, to the late Alfred and Anna (Tardif) Rivard.
She was the widow of Robert W. Lauze, whom she married on Sept. 2, 1939. He died on Dec. 30, 1957.
She was a member of Holy Cross Parish, as well as a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, Senior Citizens of Holy Cross and Multi-Purpose Center.
Being a devout Catholic, she enjoyed her annual pilgrimage to Cap de la Madeline and St. Anne de Beaupre.
She retired in 1980 after 25 years of employment at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Alice enjoyed doing hooked rugs and plastic canvas, word search, and loved playing beano and cribbage. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, and she especially looked forward to the annual lobster feed on Mother’s Day weekend.
She is survived by four children, one son, Brother Paul Lauze SC Brothers of the Sacred Heart, in Woonsocket, R.I., and three daughters, Doris Poirier and her husband Paul, and Laurette and Dorothy Lauze, with whom she resided in Lewiston.
She was predeceased by her husband; three sisters, Marie, Yvonne and Jeannette; and six brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Willie, Antonio, Leon and Pierre Rivard.
The family wishes to thank the staff of d’Youville Pavilion 4 West, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and to the many others who made her last days comfortable.
