AUBURN – Central Maine Community College Corporate and Community Services will offer “Board Development” (CCS 079-01) from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 15. The cost of $65 includes materials.

The most effective nonprofit organizations will be those that carry out their mission long into the future. That kind of success is directly related to how the board of directors governs the organization, sets policy and stands up for the value of the services provided by the staff.

The workshop will provide nonprofit board and staff members with an understanding of the vital roles that the board plays and how board participation makes a world of difference in the success of voluntary organizations.

The workshop will be facilitated by Christos Gianopoulos. In his consulting business, Gianopoulos has assisted business professionals and other committed individuals to clarify their thinking about the direction and management of their enterprises.

He has decades of experience in personal and professional development, leadership of community initiatives and teaching. He has been a project director for nonprofit organizations such as the Maine Audubon Society and the Maine Lyceum. A graduate of Bowdoin College, Gianopoulos holds graduate degrees from the American University and Syracuse University.
