WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Third-seed Maine scored twice on penalty kicks following a scoreless deadlock Sunday to edge Boston University in the America East women’s soccer semifinals.
The victory sends the Black Bears (14-3-2) to their fourth consecutive conference championship game. Maine faces top-seed Hartford next Saturday.
The Terriers (13-3-3) outshot Maine 14-7 during 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtimes. Christine LaBelle and Veronique Fleury converted on their penalty kicks, while BU missed all four attempts.
Bates 2, Tufts 1
MEDFORD, Mass. – Mary Bucci scored at 4:49 of overtime to lead Bates to a 2-1 triumph over Tufts in the opening round of the NESCAC tournament.
The strong wind aided Bucci’s winning goal from 30 yards out. Bucci scored both Bobcats’ goals.
Mia Lidofsky recorded six saves in net for the Bobcats.

CMCC 88, UNBSJ 60
FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Kaleb Violette dropped in 32 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to power Central Maine Community College to an 88-60 victory over the University of New Brunswick-Saint John.
The Mustangs raced away with 50 points in the second half to win the championship game of this weekend’s Can-Am tournament.
Dave Labonte added 17 points and Jon Gilson chipped in with 15 points for CMCC (2-0). Violette, Gilson, and Labonte were all named to the All-Conference team after the tournament.

Bates 1, Wesleyan 0
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Brent Morin scored the game’s lone goal in the 103rd minute to lead Bates to a 1-0 victory over Wesleyan in the first round of the NESCAC playoffs.
Goalie Rob Munro protected the Bobcats lead with 10 saves.
