LIVERMORE – After years of work and the production of a 600-page accreditation portfolio that includes a self-study, the Livermore Elementary School and staff are ready for a visiting accreditation team.

The accreditation process consists of three major components: an intensive self-study by the school with all facets investigated; validation of the study by a New England Association of Schools and Colleges visiting team; and the development of a comprehensive improvement plan to address the team’s recommendations.

SAD 36 Superintendent Terry Despres said it was time to celebrate all of the work put into the accreditation process and the report.

When the accreditation process is completed there will be a five-year plan speaking to curriculum, instruction, facilities and other aspects to improve school, staff and student performances, Despres said.

The middle and high school are also going through the accreditation process.

A district technology integrator, Darren Akerman, who explained the efforts that went into the portfolio, said he has encouraged the elementary staff during the accreditation visit to “Do exactly what you normally do. I don’t want you to put on a show. I want you to do what you do best.”

The accreditation team is scheduled to arrive Sunday, Nov. 5, and leave Wednesday, Nov. 8.

In other business, SAD 36 directors thanked Pam Doyen, formerly Pam Hamilton, for her 19 years of service to the district. She was previously a first grade teacher as well as a reading specialist in the district.

She has been hired as Leeds Elementary School principal in SAD 52. She starts her new job Monday, Oct. 30.

The board also approved the Class of 2008 senior trip to Florida in April or May 2008.
