MINOT – Walter “Wally” McKinley, 52, of Minot, died Saturday, Oct. 28, in his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on Sept. 4, 1954, in Lewiston, the son of Lynwood and Joyce (Mitchell) McKinley of Minot.

He was a graduate of Edward Little High School. He worked for years in the utilities field and was most currently employed as a HVAC engineer by the Thayer Corp. of Auburn.

He was a skilled craftsman, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed hosting a yearly lobster feed for his family and friends, with an overabundance of food.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce (McKinley) Hellen; his stepfather, Douglas Hellen of Minot; two brothers, James and his wife, Marilyn, of Poland, and Robert and his wife, Debra, of Mechanic Falls; two sons, Andrew and his wife, Amy, of Lisbon Falls, and Thomas and his fiancée, Kelly, of Mary Ester, Fla.; two beloved grandchildren, Lauren and Eva of Lisbon Falls; three stepsisters, Joanne Hellen of Oregon, Julie Little and her husband, Jim, of Epping, N.H., and Jody Brown of Hampton Beach, N.H.; four nieces, Heather McKinley of Mechanic Falls, Rebecca and Kelly Brown of Hampton Beach, N.H., and Andrea Jutras of Newmarket, N.H.; one nephew, Robert L.D. McKinley of Mechanic Falls; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his dog, Toby.

He was predeceased by his father, Lynwood McKinley.
