QUINCY, Mass. – Ann Marie Mercier of Litchfield has been awarded the CitiStreet Hands and Heart Award for her volunteer efforts with the Mid-Maine Equine Search and Rescue Unit.
The rescue unit, under that state’s warden service, is a nonprofit organization that assists in the search and rescue of lost, missing and abducted adults and children. On a regular basis, Mercier is asked to leave her home with her horse for unknown lengths of time to search for missing persons in often difficult and dangerous areas.
She is a charter member of the six-year-old rescue unit, which now has eight members and has been credited with supporting the state warden service with searches and rescues.
The CitiStreet Hands and Heart Award was established to recognize company employees who have demonstrated an outstanding service commitment to their communities. Nominations for the award are made by fellow employees.
