Why are you seeking a term as a city councilor?

“I feel the Auburn citizens need a more transparent government. Some of the decisions made in the past few years, I have agreed with some and I’ve disagreed with others. I feel that one of the reasons why people are taking more money out of their pocket for the taxes this year is not only because of the revaluation but some of the poor planning and poor decisions made by the City Council and staff.”

What can you do to provide relief for Auburn property taxpayers?

“I don’t believe there is any solution, as far as fixing the revaluation. On the increase, that’s all the economy. The biggest thing we can do is to slow down spending, find areas that we can cut more than we have in the past. We are spending money where I feel we should not be spending money, and that is all taxpayers’ dollars. As far as the next year, everybody’s property taxes, I think, will go up. But the best way I can see to minimize it is to make a stand on watching the spending.”

Please rate the incumbent (Eric Samson). What could Mr. Samson have done to make things smoother for the city, the citizens or the City Council?

“I think Eric done a good job in certain aspects of being a city councilor. There are a lot of decisions he’s made that I’d have thought over more and I would have asked more questions than what was done. As far as what can be done different, I believe there needs to be more questions asked. There’s not enough questions asked by the City Council to the salesmen presenting their projects.”
