LEWISTON – Charlotte E. Philbrick, 87, of 173 Winter St., Auburn, died Sunday, Oct. 29, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Norridgewock on May 6, 1919, the daughter of Ezra D. and Hazel (Holt) Kelley. She was the widow of Auburn Police Officer Norman C. Philbrick who was killed in the live of duty July 7, 1949.
She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1936. She worked for many years as the office manager at the Woman’s Shop on Lisbon Street. After the shop closed, she worked for several years at LaVerdiere’s Pharmacy in Auburn.
She loved to sew, do crewel, research the family genealogy and read.
She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Porter, and her husband, Harold, of Sanford and Judith B. Marston of Standish; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Segal, and her husband, Jack, of Portland; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was a gentle woman and kind neighbor who cared very much about others.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Ernest L. Kelley; and a son-in-law, Daniel Marston of Gorham.
