BOSTON (AP) – A man accused of killing his elderly father and dismembering his body was ordered held without bail Monday.

Brian Lee, 41, of Boston, was arrested after police found human remains in a trash bag in the backyard of a home where Lee worked as a handyman and at his father’s home in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood. The remains were later identified as those of Edward Lee, 70.

Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley, said Edward Lee had taken out three restraining orders against his son over the last six years, including one last week that alleged physical abuse, threats and destruction of his property.

Brian Lee’s attorney, Stephen Hrones, said his client told him that he did not commit the murder. Hrones said Brian Lee denies having an acrimonious relationship with his father.

“We heard they had a normal relationship,” Hrones said. “There were spats here and there, but not the type of relationship that would bring about any murder along these lines.”

Brian Lee was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Dorchester District Court on a charge of murder. He is due back in court on Dec. 15 for a probable cause hearing.
