LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center will host an educational workshop on Medicare Plan D 2007 at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6.

As of Oct. 1, Medicare Part D sponsors began to market benefit plans for 2007. Plans and premiums will vary for 2007. A typical beneficiary will pay the first $265 in drug costs, then 25 percent of the next $2,135.

After the combined expenses of a beneficiary and the plan reach $2,400, the beneficiary pays all costs until total costs reach $5,451.25. The coverage gap has often been referred as the “doughnut hole,” although several plans offer coverage to fill it.

The only way to figure out which plan costs the least is to compare and to understand how Medicare D will work in 2007. Enrollment for Medicare D 2007 will begin Wednesday, Nov. 15.

The workshop will be presented in CMMC Conference Room H. Presenters from SeniorsPlus with expertise in Medicare Plan D will facilitate the program in conjunction with CMMC’s Senior Services.

To register for the free workshop, call CMMC Senior Services at 795-2905 or 1-800-564-4555.
