Why are you seeking a term as a city councilor?

“The city of Auburn needs change. I became more involved with the city of Auburn – a lot of citizens did – when the revaluations came out last year. I really wasn’t involved until then and the things I’ve seen since becoming involved, and being on the Mayor’s Budget Committee, just have opened my eyes.

What can you do to provide relief for Auburn property taxpayers?

“I think we look at the budget – totally. With the advisory committee I was on, we looked very detailed at it, but I think there can be other things – maintaining the budget where it is so we don’t have as much of an increase next year. And making sure that goes back, so the taxes don’t go up as much. The budget is the bottom line. That’s where everything comes from.”

Please rate the incumbent. What could Ms. Rowell have done to make things smoother for the city, the citizens or the City Council?

“Donna has done a good job, but I think it’s the City Council in general. I don’t want to be specific with one candidate. It’s just the way the City Council in general is running. They’re not running as a team. There seem to be conflicts. They’re split down the middle oftentimes, and everybody on the council needs to work together. Donna’s done a good job. She’s listened to her constituents and brought the questions they have and tried to get answers as they are available. But Auburn needs a change. The whole council needs a change, and I just feel that I have something to give.”
