FARMINGTON – Madeline L. Kelley, 92, of Farmington, formerly of Mechanic Falls, died Monday, Oct. 30, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Mechanic Falls on Sept. 22, 1914, the daughter of George and Ethel Herrick Snow. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School and had been employed at Pineland Center for many years.
She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Farmington, where she played in the orchestra. She was a former member of the Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Mechanic Falls.
She enjoyed playing harmonica at church, nursing homes and any place where people would enjoy it. She was a longtime member of Colfax Rebekah Lodge 27 in Mechanic Falls, where she held many offices over the years. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by six daughters, Jacquelyn Beck, Marion Holt, Emma Curtis, Eleanor Cusson, Helen Fairbrother and Patricia Phipps; two sons, Ray Thurston and Scott Thurston; 28 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Nile.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry A. Kelley; and a sister, Emma Louise Cutler.
