Maine citizens have an important decision to make on Election Day.
The Taxpayer Bill of Rights – Question 1 on the ballot – would hurt Maine families and communities. If approved, public services will be cut; property values will decline and our quality of life will suffer. These are not “scare tactics.” This is the reality of what TABOR would do.
TABOR would also wreak havoc in our town budgeting and election processes. TABOR replaces local democracy with minority rule and a rigid one-size-fits-all budget formula.
Those pitching TABOR are trying to sell us a lemon. It’s been tried in Colorado, and it was a disaster. TABOR hurt the educational system, the state’s economy, public safety and basic infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
Maine people deserve better. I will vote no on Question 1.
