SOUTH PARIS – Virginia “Ginny” Louise Smith, 97, of Buckfield, died Oct. 31, at the Market Square Health Care.

She was born in Buckfield on Aug. 6, 1909, the daughter of Virgil Nicholas and Carrie C. (Record) Smith and was educated in Buckfield schools, graduating in 1928. Ginny was a homemaker most of her life. She was an avid hunter and fisherwomen, enjoyed crafts and baking (especially wedding cakes) as well as being active with the Rebekah’s, the literary club, historical society and the Old Church on the Hill Committee.

She is survived by nephew, Virgil Tilton of Buckfield; nieces, Marilyn Plissey of Machiasport and Arizona, Frances Hale of Windsor and Rossie Kyllonen of Buckfield; as well as several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a longtime friend, Henry Bridgham; and three sisters, E. Mae Bonney, Doris Adey and Helen Tilton.
