LEWISTON – Fernande A. Thibodeau, 88, formerly of 142 Meadowview Park, Lewiston, and a resident of Clover Residential Care in Auburn for the past year-and-a-half, died Thursday, Nov. 2, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 18, 1918, the daughter of Felix and Blanche Pelletier Boucher. Educated locally, she was employed for many years in the area textile industry, and later worked in the sewing room at St. Mary’s Hospital.
On Nov. 9, 1941, she was married to Charles A. Thibodeau, and they made their home together at 15 Jones Ave., Lewiston, for many years, moving to Meadowview Park 10 years ago. He passed away on April 6, 1998.
A member of Holy Cross Parish, she also belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne and the Cercle d’Youville. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and beano with her friends, and loved to knit; always making sure her grandchildren were well-supplied with Irish knit sweaters, afghans, slippers and mittens.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita, and husband, Moe Paradis, of Lewiston and Linda, and husband, Bob McDonough, of Lewiston; a sister, Alice Plourde of Lewiston; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Camelio Boucher; and two sisters, Laureanne Patry and Georgette Belanger.
