On Oct. 29, a letter to the editor titled “Just for the record” contained misleading information.
The letter claims I voted against property tax rebates for the elderly, which I believe refers to LD 1, which was originally touted to fully fund education while also providing property tax relief. Unfortunately, it became evident that LD 1 would not provide increases in education funding or the property tax relief demanded by voters in 2005. I am sure that from the property tax increase Auburn received, they would agree with my opinion that LD 1 did not provide real property tax relief.
I appreciate this opportunity to set the record straight.
