1. To offer the citizens of District 15 a real voice in the affairs of the Senate. Ten years of political bias has served very few and offered no solutions to the difficult problems facing our state. I have both the desire and the ability to work effectively with others of varied political persuasions.

2. My top priority will be to find a more balanced tax system that is fair to all Maine citizens, yet provides necessary funding to adequately serve the needs of Maine people.

3. TABOR challenges the constitutional powers of the Legislature. It is further flawed by the clumsy process by which the citizens could later reject or modify its effects.

4. These social issues are currently overshadowed by the real concerns of basic survival. Double digit property tax increases and raising oil prices are of primary concern to the voters that I have visited. I support the right for a woman to choose in the case of abortion. I believe that no person should be made to suffer indignities as a result of sexual orientation.

5. More than 16,000 Mainers are currently enrolled in Dirigo Health. It is not performing as well as expected in terms of cost and enrollment. Currently the entire program is under examination by a blue ribbon commission. I am withholding comment and recommendations pending receipt of the results of this study.
