1. I can no longer afford the taxes in Maine (all Maine taxes) and the out-of-control, overboard spending at the Legislature.
2. Put Maine back in the black. Stop overboard spending. Pay off Maine’s bills. Push for a Pro-business and a Pro-jobs climate in the state of Maine.
3. The positive feature of TABOR is that the people have control of the spending by a two-thirds supermajority voting. The negative is time-consuming process to pass needed expenditures beyond the scope of the existing budget. Maine cannot sustain continued spending to satisfy all real government responsibilities in spending, plus the wants and needs of every special interest group expecting more than their fair/unfair share.
4. Every human being is protected in the United States under strong human rights laws. Additional special interest anti-discrimination laws simply tie up the court system and fund the lawyers’ groups in fighting “above and beyond” issues. At-will abortions are out of control due to poor “taking responsibility” attitude among the sexually active.
5. Dirigo is way too costly. It is a one insurance company plan. The 122nd Legislature was given other directions to consider that would have opened the doors to competition, but apparently was rejected by the governor and Dirigo-focused legislators. The medical community also has a responsibility to coral its medical costs.
