1. I was asked by the people of Maine to run. As an Auburn native and a resident of District 68 for more than 35 years, I agreed to run because this district has not been adequately represented. I have the proven ability to connect with people at all levels and will bring a new voice to Augusta.

2. My top priority will be to promote legislation that ensures the opportunity for all citizens to seek a college education.

3. A potential negative effect is that TABOR prescribes the same budget formula for small towns as it does for large cities. For this reason and others I do not support TABOR. If the referendum is approved, it becomes my obligation as a representative to carry out the will of the people.

4. Social issues such as anti-discrimination legislation and abortion play a role in every election. Some people continue to deny the validity of recognizing sexual orientation and the right of a woman to choose in abortion questions. I support current legislation regarding these issues.

5. Dirigo Health is a step in the right direction. It saves money and helps control costs. There are 16,700 Maine people who were not insured and are now covered by health insurance. A Blue Ribbon Commission is working on alternative funding for Dirigo and will have suggestions for the next legislative session on how to fund it.
