Committee assignments: Judiciary, Ethics

1. To work to make state government more accountable to the citizens of Maine; reduce regulations, promote a healthy business climate; control the cost of government.

2. Replace budgeting gimmicks and one-time fixes that mortgage our future and that of our children and grandchildren. Promote a plan that decreases spending, reduces government waste, and faces up to the mounting debt that Maine owes for retirement and health care benefits.

3. Positive effects of TABOR include honest, responsible spending and budgeting that takes into account the burden that unchecked spending places on our citizens. I support the initiative and believe that it is time that we set priorities and live within our means.

4. I believe that this election is about our economic future and candidates should be focused on improving our economic climate to allow our children to stay in Maine and work at good paying, rewarding and satisfying careers. Maine has laws on the books that address these social issues.

5. Dirigo Health is not succeeding because it has not effectively reduced the number of uninsured; it has failed while spending millions of dollars. Instead of carving out segments of society and providing health insurance at the expense of uninsured working Mainers, a program needs to include young healthy workers at an affordable price.
