1. I am running for the District 104 seat because I believe I have the time, interest and related experiences to better represent the people and small local businesses of Lisbon.
2. My top priority is to address the costs of health care for un-insured or under-insured employees of large businesses by introducing legislation requiring those businesses to pay a minimum amount toward the health care costs of their employees or reimburse state government for a certain amount of public health care costs.
3. Passage of TABOR will inevitably and negatively impact schools, public safety, road maintenance and health care for the elderly and children. These are areas which I don’t believe the public intends to hurt, despite their desire for lower taxes.
4. It seems that taxes and other money issues will overshadow the social issues. I support anti-discrimination legislation and a woman’s right to choose.
5. Dirigo Health presents an effective start to solving the problem of health insurance coverage for Mainers not covered otherwise. It would be unwise to scrap the program in its infancy. Rather, we should give it time by working on those areas which need improvement.
