1. Maine government absolutely needs to temper its spending habits. The experience acquired representing Lisbon for the past four years will help me target those programs and expenditures that are in need of refinement or elimination to reduce spending and, thereby, taxes.

2. My top priority is to control spending and reduces taxes without eliminating necessary programs and commitments to education and basic constituent services. The reduction of state debt acquired over the last 30 years must be accomplished for Maine to prosper.

3. I strongly support TABOR. The executive and legislative branches of government have significantly increased spending and taxes over the past 30 years of single party dominance. TABOR will only limit the “growth” of taxes and spending, not cut spending as we know it.

4. I believe that anti-discrimination and abortion legislation play a minor, if any, role in this election. I am pro-life and do not believe that special rights ought to be state-legislated for any group not covered by federal anti-discrimination legislation.

5. Dirigo Health has not met its goals of reducing health insurance costs or of insuring the many uninsured. As a pure business model, it cannot work as structured. The best and simplest way to accomplish its goals is to eliminate the many state health insurance mandates, thereby inviting the private insurance market back to Maine.
