1. A politician is a policy engineer, responsible for working to improve circumstances for all constituents. Good policy engineering takes a strong voice and a responsible vote. I want to be that strong voice and responsible vote for Paris, Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner. I will show up and speak up for you.
2. If the Taxpayer Bill of Rights passes, my top priority will be “fixing” it. If it does not pass, my top priority will be tax reform.
3. The 12 pages of TABOR is a must read for all who plan to vote on Question One in November. Maine does not need to abandon the fundamental democratic concept of majority rule in order to fix its tax problems. There are better solutions out there, and I am committed to finding and implementing them.
4. My constituents have not asked about these issues as I have met them at their doors. There is much more attention on our economic circumstances and our tax problems. I support Maine Won’t Discriminate; I never had an abortion; I never will; and I will never make that decision for someone else.
5. Access to health care should not be tied to employment. This model is bankrupting our economy. Because Dirigo Health still ties access to health care to employment, it can not be the long-term solution. We can find a better way to meet this basic need for all.
