1. I want to analyze state government spending, review program efficiency and develop controls on spending, moving Maine away from being the state with highest taxes.
2. Reducing the tax load on Maine citizens.
3. The Taxpayer Bill of Rights will create more reasonable spending limits by government. It is a beginning for reining spending at state, county and municipal levels, which will have a positive affect on taxes, including property taxes. I support the effort.
4. There will be social issue legislation. I support equal rights but not special rights. Regarding abortion, I support parental and 24-hour notification.
5. Dirigo Health is highly inefficient. I have a thick file on the subject concerning the enrollees vs. costs and who is paying. It shows an unacceptable program. Costs in New Hampshire are half that of Maine. We need to reform state insurance laws and regulations, create a high risk pool and revive competitive insurance market.
