Some perplexed voters have called with concerns over Question 1, the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, as – despite all the TABOR hoopla – the controversial acronym appears nowhere on the official ballot.
What voters will see is a question about limiting taxation and spending. That’s Question 1. The legislation attached to the question, and which is up for approval or disapproval on Election Day, is known as the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, or TABOR.
A yes on Question 1 is a vote for TABOR. A no is a vote against. We’ve endorsed TABOR- and therefore Question 1 – as an imperfect solution for an intractable problem.
It’s just our opinion. Today is when the voters of Maine should express theirs by going to the polls.
